About Dr. Somasundaram Sathappan
Dr. Somasundaram Sathappan, often known as Dr. Soma, is a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with extensive experience in both complex reconstructive procedures and aesthetic surgery. He received his medical and surgical training at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and has long-standing professional ties with Hospital Canselor Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HCTM) and the university’s medical faculty.
Dr. Soma is widely recognised for his surgical expertise, mentorship, and contributions to Malaysian medicine. He was part of the team involved in the first successful separation of conjoined twins in Malaysia, a milestone that reflects his depth of experience in complex reconstructive surgery. He currently runs Soma Plastic Surgery, a private practice in Subang Jaya, where he continues to focus on reconstructive and aesthetic care while remaining actively engaged in professional education and clinical discourse.
